The Three Shires Winter League News
This isn't really 3 Shires News
(but it might concern your team/club/pub.

All our Clubs/Teams are associated to the English Pétanque Association (EPA) tho' few play in the local EPA league, the Pennant Midweek Pétanque League. Some Clubs seem to think the Pennant League is "too serious" or "not as friendly as ours" etc., etc.

Nothing could be further from the truth!

The top divisions of the 3 Shires and the Pennant are of very similar standard. Many of the Pennant players also play in the 3 Shires -- ask them! They'll tell you that the Pennant is a very friendly league

Now, the Pennant is trying to form a 3rd Division but are short of one team! This is an excellent opportunity for Clubs to start playing in the League. Ask your members -- "Would you like to twice a week"? Many would.

What's involved in joining? The only requirement is that all players join the EPA and get Licences. The cost is just £15/year

What do you get for joining? Well. an extra game a week for a start. You get the opportunity to play in many tournaments, both here and abroad. You also get some useful free insurance plus access to coaching, advice, etc., etc.. Check out www.englishpetanque.org.uk

If you have a few players who would like to play more but can't actually raise a team, ask Clubs near you and see if you could form a joint team. I'm sure we could fit in any such team so as not to have clashes on even already shared terrains.
