The Central Cams Pétanque League Constitution
- PURPOSE:
The object of the League shall be the promotion of the game of Pétanque in the district.
- NAME OF LEAGUE:
The name of the League shall be The Central Cams Pétanque League, however this may be changed at a General Meeting to reflect the name of a sponsor.
- NATURE OF LEAGUE:
The League shall be run as a Fun League.
- CONTROL OF LEAGUE:
The League shall be run by a League Organiser.
The League Organiser may co-opt up to two additional Committee members and up to two advisors to assist in the running of the League.
- ELIGIBILITY OF CLUBS TO JOIN THE LEAGUE:
The League will have its Headquarters at The Queen's Head, Fowlmere.
Any Public House, Sports Club or civic organisation within a radius of 15 miles of the Headquarters may form a Club to play in the League.
Applications to join the League should be through the League Organiser.
Clubs may enter up to TWO teams in the League providing sufficient pistes are available to allow two matches to be played simultaneously.
At least SIX players must be available for each team entered.
- ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:
This shall be held annually at a date decided at the previous General Meeting.
All Clubs in the League may send representatives to the AGM, but if any voting decision is required at the AGM, then only one per team is allowed. A quorum shall be representation of 50% of Clubs
The AGM shall: -
a) Review any changes necessary of the Rules and Constitution
b) Decide registration fees for the coming year
c) Discuss such other business as the chairman will allow.
The AGM shall be chaired by the League Organiser or, in his absence, by any person appointed by him.
- EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING:
An EGM may be called by the League Organiser at his/her discretion.
An EGM must be called by the League Organiser at the written request of at least 30% of the Clubs. If after two weeks the League Organiser has not responded, an EGM may be convened by written notice from at least 30% of Clubs to all such Clubs.
Two weeks written notice must be given of any EGM.
- FEES:
The expenditure of the League will be kept to the minimum. However some expenses will occur and an annual Club fee may be set at a General Meeting. The annual fee should be paid to the League Organiser, within the first month of the start of the season.
- EXCLUSION OF TEAMS:
- A team failing to appear for THREE matches during the season may be asked to leave.
- A team failing to submit the required fees by the end of the specified period (see 8) may be asked to leave.
If a team leaves, all its results will be erased from the team scores for the season.
- CLUB MEMBERS:
No individual player may play for more than one team in the League during any season except with the prior consent of the League Organiser. Teams are required to register on the Registration Forms provided.
Players may not change Clubs during a season unless they change their address.
Players are encouraged to register with the BPA, but such registration is NOT a condition of playing in any event organised by the League.
- AREA AVAILABLE FOR MATCHES:
Clubs must provide at least TWO pistes for match play. The recommended size of a piste shall be at least 12 metres by 2,5 metres, but a width of 3 metres is preferable. Pistes should be provided with adequate lighting. The League Organiser shall be the arbiter of adequacy.
- COMPETITION AND TROPHIES:
The League shall organise competitions: -
a) On a League basis.
b) On a Knockout basis.
The dates and format of any KO competitions will be announced during the season.
Trophies will be awarded.
