Match Rules of the Central Cams Pétanque League

The League shall abide by the Official Rules of Pétanque as modified and adopted by the British Pétanque Association (BPA), subject to the modifications and additions set out below.

Any dispute regarding the interpretation of these rules must be referred to the League Organiser.
  1. LEAGUE MODIFICATIONS TO THE ABOVE OFFICIAL RULES:
  2. String boundaries are to be taken as the limits of the area in which a game is to be played. Any contact of a boule or cochonnet with such a string renders it out of play except if the string is used as a divider between two pistes. In this case, the boule or cochonnet is considered out of play if the whole boule or cochonnet goes completely clear of the string.

  3. THE FIXTURES:

  4. The League fixture list will be drawn up on a weekly basis for the season.

All teams will play each other on a Home and Away basis.

Matches are normally scheduled for a Wednesday evening. The Home team shall be responsible for convening the match. If matches are convened on any other day it shall be by mutual agreement, preference being given to the choice of the Home team.

If a team finds it impossible to fulfil a fixture and wishes to postpone the match, it must give 24 hours notice to the opposing team. Failure to do this will result in forfeiture of the match 5-0 (65-0) in favour of the innocent team. (Rule introduced at 2009 AGM. See note *)

If a match has to be postponed, then the offending team (the team who cancelled the original match) will be given 3 dates, one per week in the following 3 weeks by the innocent team. If the offending team is unable to accept one of these dates then the match will be awarded 5-0 (65-0) in favour of the innocent team with a corresponding reciprocal score for the offending team.
