Council 514 also won the throphy for the council
who made the most
visits to other councils in Province 30 during 1999.
The John O'Hanlon Trust is very prominent in
Co.514.
This was established in honour of one of our Brothers who
passed away after a long illness. Funds are raised throughout
the year to
enable the Council to fund a visit to Lourdes by sick people
in the parish.
In years past this was usually done through
sponsoring a seat on the Jambulance
Over the years in excess of 50 sick people have been so sponsored.
Since the Jambulance no longer operates, HCPT
are the organisation that
benefits most from this fund raising initiative.
The Knights organise a Cheese and Wine Auction
for parishioners
and their friends. This is usually in April each year.
The Knights also organise a primary school children
Ten-Pin
bowling tournament. Again proceeds are towards the Lourdes project.

Membership in the Knights of St.Columba provides opportunity
for wholesome association with
congenial companions who are, first of all, practicing Catholic gentlemen.
It offers the opportunity
for fellowship with those who are of the same belief, who recognize
the same duty to God, to family
and to neighbour and who stand side by side in defense of those
beliefs. Programs are so organized
as to appeal to the individual interest of the members. Through
many constructive activities of
Christian fraternity, members are enabled to render service to their
Church, and their fellowman.
Through membership they develop a consciousness of their ability
to lead and to assist.
Knights of St. Columbus has a proud heritage.
