THE COUNCIL

The Council was formed in 1956 as a bi-parish Council which covered both Feltham and Ashford.
For several years, Council met at St.Lawrence Parish Social Club, a small wooden building adjacent
to the church. As time went by the Council grew and membership was being attracted from a wider area
which covered other Parishes, such as Hampton,Whitton and Cranford, all within a few miles radius.

COUNCIL SIZE

Membership varies from year to year. The highest number of members ever recorded was twentysix.
Last few  years we have been unfortunate to lose a number of our senior Brothers who passed away,
members that we will find hard to replace. Recruitment is always at the forefront of our mind.
We are fortunate enough to have attracted a regular number of new Brothers over the years.
During 1996/1997 Council 514 won the Bernard  Cup for the highest number of recruits amongst
all the Councils in Province-30.

SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTS

Council 514 organises a number of events each year.
Brothers take turns in visiting the Homeless taking them
Food, clothing and cigarettes.
The Thames embankment near the Aldwych is the most
common distribution place for this activity

The John O'Hanlon Trust is very prominent in Co.514.
This was established in honour of one of our Brothers who
passed away after a long illness. Funds are raised throughout the year to
enable the Council to fund a visit to Lourdes by sick people in the parish.

In years past this was usually done through sponsoring a seat on the Jambulance
Over the years in excess of 50 sick people have been so sponsored.

Since the Jambulance no longer operates, HCPT are the organisation that
benefits most from this fund raising initiative.

The Knights organise a Cheese and Wine Auction for parishioners
and their friends. This is usually in April each year.

The Knights also organise a primary school children Ten-Pin
bowling tournament. Again proceeds are towards the Lourdes project.
