Wrong! There is no evidence at all in the play about Laius' character: but his behaviour at the crossroads, according to Oedipus' account later in the play, suggests he was a rather unpleasant man with a vile temper. But the fact that his death was not investigated, and that Creon stood to gain (as the brother-in-law of the dead ruler) probably seemed suspicious to Oedipus.
