Wrong! Maybe Creon was hoping to be the next ruler of Thebes, and so arranged for Laius to be removed. He must have been really disappointed when Oedipus turned up, and was made king by the people in gratitude for his saving them from the Sphinx! But Oedipus does not use this argument.
