The second stage of the Men’s Tour of Britain both starts and finishes in Stowmarket so we probably ought to go.
TA East will be
meeting at the Forge Café, Thornham Walks (TM099714) from
11 o’clock.
The race will pass there sometime between half past 12
and a quarter to one.
Meeting at West Suffolk Pub of the Year, Rattlesden Five Bells, starting at about half past eight.
V-CC Flat Section ‘occasional’ meeting: meet at Hoxne Swan, approx 6.30,
then ride across to Roydon White Hart for
7.30 to try out their fare.
Please tell
if you are able to attend, so he can book numbers.
V-CC Flat Section’s Flatter Subsection meeting at the Fur and Feather in Woodbastwick (Woodforde’s brewery tap) at 19:00.
V-CC Flat Section monthly meeting—Plan B.
Train (and bus) trip to Whittlesea for the V-CC Old Soke
Section Cycle Jumble and The
Letter B; jumble starts at 11:00am at St Andrew’s
Parish Room, Whittlesey, PE7 1BZ (TL267969).
Pitches: £10; Entry £1. Cake (and other
refreshments) available.
The bad news is that—again—there are no trains to Whittlesea on this day;
it’s a rail replacement bus service from Ely. Leaving Stowmarket at
8:09 gets us there at 10:30 or leaving two hours later gets us there … two
hours later.
V-CC Flat Section Marriots Mardle No2
Gather at the ‘Refectory’ café in Norwich Cathedral
close before departing on the ride through the Erpingham Gate at 10:00,
riding through medieval Tombland to the Marriots Way Cycle Path. The
path follows the Wensum valley to Reepham. After lunch: onwards to
the market town of Aylsham and the Bure Valley Railway Path to
Wroxham. Both Marriots Way and Bure Valley paths are fairly smooth to
ride on but there are sections with loose stone and exposed tree
roots. Return from Wroxham to Norwich can be via a 10-mile
partially off-road ride or by train.
Please contact
if you are going and for ride details.
Meeting at West Suffolk Pub of the Year, Rattlesden Five Bells, starting at about half past eight.
V-CC Flat Section Lamplit Ride: Oil, gas and candle
on period cycles preferred.
16:00 at the Assembly Point at Marlinspike Hall
(TM367745) for an 18:00 depart on the eight-mile ride to Sweffling White
Horse.
V-CC Flat Section monthly meeting—Plan A.
Monthly meeting: we will meet at West Suffolk Pub of the
Year, Rattlesden Five Bells, from 1pm.
By 2pm, depending on rain, wind, & enthusiasm, we will
decide to stay where we are or cycle further afield.
V-CC Flat Section monthly meeting (Black bikes)—Plan B.
Snow ride.
TA East
meeting at The Three Horseshoes,
Cockfield.
We assume this starts at 12 noon, because that’s
when the pub opens.
Monthly meeting: we will meet at West Suffolk Pub of the
Year, Rattlesden Five Bells, from 1pm.
By 2pm, depending on rain, wind, & enthusiasm, we will
decide to stay where we are or cycle further afield.
V-CC Flat Section Mick Madgett’s Boxing Day Ride
starts from Mick’s shop in Diss.
Mick will lead us on an interesting route to a pub open
for lunch.
Snow ride–if there is any.
New Year’s Day Ride to (probably) the Middy’s New Year’s Day Steam
and Light Festival. This is also the Thursday nearest to the full
moon, so it will take the place of our normal monthly meeting.
The Middy Bar will be open (and, if it’s bucketing down
with rain, you can avoid cycling: there will be a free bus from Stowmarket
railway station at 10 o’clock, 11 o’clock, and
½ past 12).
V-CC Flat Section monthly meeting—it would be foolish to try to predict where it will be..
Monthly meeting: we will meet at West Suffolk Pub of 2025,
Rattlesden Five Bells, from 1pm.
Snow ride–if there is any.
V-CC Flat Section The Boot & Back from Rattlesden Five Bells.
A speed-judging ride on a five-mile course with first
rider away at 11:01am. There’s also a cycle jumble on the pub’s
meadow before the ride.
Monthly meeting: we will meet at West Suffolk Pub of the
Year, 2025 (and probably our last meeting before West Suffolk CamRA names a
new PotY), Rattlesden Five Bells, from 1pm.
