News 18.07.07 Whyteleafe CC Victorious Godstone 20/20 Knockout Final Whyteleafe 145-8 / Morden Corinthians 133-9 Whyteleafe CC are champions, winning by 12 runs
In the absence of 1st XI skipper Pete Goodwin, stand in captain Matthew Vines elected to bat for eventual victors Whyteleafe in the final of this well organised wednesday cup competition. Runs came steadily for Leafe, but at no great rate and as wickets fell at regular intervals Morden were clearly on top. When opener MA.Mohabir (21) was run out with the score at 63-5 it was clear that Whyteleafe's depth in batting was to be tested to the full. Former opener Graham Curtis (60), batting at No.6, came to the crease and hit the Morden bowling to all parts of Godstone Green, scoring 22 from one over (6,4,4,4,4,0). Whyteleafe finished on 145 from their 20 overs. The pick of the Morden bowling was A Allen (4-0-19-1). It was Whyteleafe's expertise in the field that put Morden on the back foot as both openers fell to direct hit run outs by Annal Mohabir and Paul Flattley, who claimed four run-outs in the competition. Two more run-outs from Tom Winsor and Mohabir saw Leafe home with 13 runs to spare. (Surrey Mirror, 18.07.2007)
7.4.07 Website Updates The gallery and social section have been updated with pictures and a report from the social event at Wimbledon Dog Track on the 24/3. The Squad page has also been updated.
Night at the Dogs - Social update The first Whyteleafe C.C. social event of the season was a total success. The dog track probably would have posted record turnover for one evening had a certain Mr. A. Curtis not managed to rake in an unbelievable return from a £2 bet. For the pictures and updates from the night go to the social section & gallery... For more social information click here
