The Working Rosary Boards

As a teacher of Catholic Religious Education I devised aids for teaching some of the devotions to children because of their lack of knowledge and understanding of them.
For The ROSARY, I made what I call ‘The Working Rosary Boards’. These boards make colourful and interesting visual aids for teaching this devotion. They are simple to use and children love to be involved in setting them up and using them.
For each Hail Mary and Our Father there is a beautifully coloured rose shaped bead. All the beads are hung on pegs onto the board called ‘The Rose Garden’ to begin with. As each prayer is learnt and prayed the rose beads are transferred and hung onto pegs on a second board which is called The Rosary’ and is mapped out with a large rosary, studded with pegs to hold the rose beads.
The three Mysteries of the rosary are taught with the aid of colourful plaques which have a picture are numbered and bear information regarding the mystery being said.
These plaques are hung beside the decade being prayed at the time and are explained before the decade starts. For easy learning the three sets of plaques have their own colour. Joyful Mysteries are orange, Sorrowful Mysteries are green, Glorious Mysteries are yellow.
