Tideswell Map for tour

1) The Parish Church of St John the Baptist: -
the current church, which dates from the 14th century, stands on the site of an 11th century chapel. It was built over a period of 75 years with a break caused by the Black Death. Inside the church are some fine wood carvings made both by Suffolk and local craftsmen. It is well worth exploring. Do look behind the church at the fine buildings which include the old grammar school dating back to the reign of Henry VIII.

Time spent exploring the village will be rewarded by finding the old market place, the medieval alleys and the old silk mills, relics of the Industrial Revolution.
