The F300

The Ferrari F300 is the car which Ferrari intend to win their first World Championship since 1979 with. After several years of preparation and with the finest engineers and designers in the sport, the team has built a car which is able to challenge for the title. Although initially the car was outclassed by the new McLaren its development has turned it into a car which has taken the team to five victories to date and more podium places than any other team. With Michael Schumacher, the best driver in the world and Eddie Irvine, the sport's bravest and most dynamic number two, Ferrari have had two drivers which have taken the car to new limits at every race and the F300 is certainly a weapon with which they can win both World Championship titles with.

The F300 has been designed by Ferrari's new chief designer, Rory Byrne, formerly of Benetton, according to the new 1998 regulations which have resulted in a car which is much narrower than last year's F310B and with the new grooved tyres, is consequently slower. First tests in the team's new wind tunnel showed that the new regulations have made the car 15% less aerodynamic than the F310B, however the team already appears to have overcome this and improvements to the car's aerodynamics during early testing have shown this to be true. The car's new 047 engine has proved reliable and powerful in testing and despite some teething problems with its gearbox, the F300 has become a car fit to win the championship. Watch out McLaren, you're about to catch Scarlet Fever!
