Venturing to Ireland and the Continent
Ireland Our first venture out of England was just across the water to Ireland in 2003, since the pet passport scheme was still a new thing, although it has to be said that now in many ways it is cheaper and easier to go to continental Europe. Dyllis Knight and I decided to hire a cottage and do the Irish ‘Circuit’, 5 shows in 8 days. We took one dog each – Ch Bergeau Just like a Rainbow and Ch Shizan de la Douce Plaine -and had a very interesting trip. It was quite hectic and we only had limited success, picking up a couple of Green Stars and a few Reserve Green Stars. However, we did get to experience the warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere of the Irish show scene. The following year Helen Grimes took Bergeau just like Thunder to the irish Specialty where he won the Green Star and BOB. Since that first trip, I have been several times to the Irish Specialty weekend and have won Green Stars and Reserve Green Stars with sr Bergeau Dazzled by the Flame, sr Ch Bergeau Paint with Matisse for Everquest and Bergeau Paint a Rainbow.

Continental Europe Once the pet passport scheme became more established and travelling through the tunnel became routine there were several trips to France (see next Chapter) Belgium and the Netherlands. sr Ch Bergeau Paint with Matisse for Everquest won the CAC and CACIB at Bleiswijk in 2007. Probably the most exciting was with sr Bergeau Dazzled by the Flame who won the CAC and BOB at the Belgian Specialty in Kortrijk and the RCAC and RCACIB the following day at the Euroshow in 2008. More recently in 2011 Bergeau Paint a Rainbow was 2^nd in Open Bitch at the FMBB Show in Nieuwpoort.
