- this was scary when 1st Gretton were abducted by aliens and disappeared off the face of
the earth and did not reappear until 6.00 AM.
Easter camp - this was a residential camp at Hawkhirst in Northumberland.
Over the weekend everyone achieved their BCU 1 star award. we also visited Hadrian's Wall.
Mega Paw - this was the 3 county camp and included climbing,
abseiling, canoeing, go-karting, caving, fun fare disco and lots more. Everyone that went
had a great time - even the leaders.
District Camp - held at Wadenhoe and included gliding, canoeing,
rafting, bridge building, orienteering, cycling and lots more. Looking forward to the next
District Camp - over to you Oundle.
5 a side football - our 'A' team were runners up and were
beaten in the final by Great Oakley.
Jurassic Lark - this was the village's summer fete and the Scouts
ran the tombola, plate smashing stall ( thanks to Crown Derby) and the wheel barrow
obstacle race. It was a fun day and helped with scout funds.
Summer Camp - this was at the International Scout Camp at
Kandersteg in Switzerland. There were troops from all over the world. The scenery was
beautiful and we were very lucky with the weather as it had rained for weeks before we
arrived. The hikes were spectacular -
- to an Alpine Lake at Oeschinensee with everyone cooling off in the Lake
- to an Alpine cheesery to sample the milk and cheese
- the highpoint of the camp at 8,000 ft to the foot of the Lotschgletscher glacier ( see
photo)
We took part in the National Day parade as the 1st Gretton Crusaders along with Vikings
and Romans. It was a good day although a bit wet.
Canoe weekend - this took place at Lincoln Sea Cadets with more
BCU 1 star awards and the more advanced Scouts working towards their 2 star award.
Swimming gala - another good result with a repeat of the 5 a side,
runners up to Great Oakley.
