Meditation Two poems by writer and artist Ceri Wheeler Sat with eyes closed, seeking to draw attention within Waiting to hear with inner ear, the next word that arises Silence ensues, and patience from the heart grows For in that moment of complete surrender All worldly gains transcend Silence ensues Yet with inner ear an orchestra is heard, playing with angelic delight Oh inner ear, content on listening to the melodies of heavenly beings YOU MAKE MY HEART SING So strange is this music, so enchanting, so enhancing It stirs the coiled force, from deep, deep sleep Silence ensues And the heart sits in blissful peace |

Silence Meditate The mind it flutters here and there Creating worlds, from the desire to escape despair Silence Meditate Step between these lines Where in this vastness of excited imagery, can one find a spot to be still Silence Meditate Enter between these words But, the importance of this life, and the thoughts of survival Perpetuate in wrapping on this door They thunder my mind with great expectations I cannot keep still, for I am always wanting more Silence Meditate Listen to your breath Oh, my thoughts, they will not still They beckon me at their will Silence Meditate While you are breathing, and intent on the breath, you do not speak While you are breathing, and intent on the sound, you do not think While you are breathing, and intent on the flow, your senses stand still So, my loved one, be silent and meditate, between every sentence, between every word, between every breath ©Ceri Wheeler January 2001 |
