Description Rhizome: creeping, epigeous to semihypogeous, diameter 5 - 7 mm.

Leaves: cataphylls dark red-brown, up to 10 cm long; petiole 30 - 40 cm, stiffly upright; lamina upright or horizontal, lanceolate, attenuate at both ends, 20 (- 30) cm long x 4 - 4.5 cm wide, dark green with small white spots, mid-vein somewhat sunken adaxially, prominent abaxially, with 3 inconspicuous secondary veins on either side.

Peduncle: 0.5 (- 1) cm long; flowers solitary but borne in some profusion. 

Perianth [Perigone]: widely campanulate, 18 - 20 mm long x  20 - 25 mm diameter; tube blackish-violet, 9 - 10 mm long x 12 - 15 mm diameter, lobes 8, somewhat bent outwards, blackish violet with yellow tips, triangular, 6 - 7 mm long x 4 - 5 mm wide, with two prominent keels ca. 1 mm high, each keel basally fusing with a keel of the adjoining lobe and forming a protruding lip at the fusion point. 

Stamens: 8, inserted at lower third of tube below the stigma surface, filaments stout, ca. 1 mm, anthers narrow ovoid, 2.5 mm long.

Pistil: obconical; 7 - 8 mm long, style gradually widened to stigma level, adaxial (stigmatic) surface with 4 shallow marginal incisions, flat or shallowly convex, pale violet, diameter 8 - 9 mm, with a cross figure of 4 fine radial whitish lines and additionally fine radial grooves; ovary inconspicuous.

Fruit: undescribed.

Phenology: flowers September - December.

Peduncle: 0.5 (- 1) cm; flowers solitary but borne in some profusion. 

Perianth [Perigone]: widely campanulate, 13 - 15 mm long x 17 - 20 mm diameter; tube blackish violet, 7 - 9 mm long x 10 - 12 mm diameter, lobes 8, distinctly bent outwards, blackish violet with yellow tips, triangular, 7 mm long x 5 mm wide, with two prominent keels ca. 0.5 mm high, each keel basally fusing with a keel of the adjoining lobe and forming a protruding lip at the fusion point, often additionally one small median keel.

Stamens: 8, inserted at lower third of tube, filaments stout, ca. 1 mm long, anthers narrow ovoid, 2.5 mm long.
