Comments A supposed "fossil" banana initially identified as Musa enseteformis (Berry 1925) from the Tertiary of Colombia re-classified as Ensete berryi by Jain.  However, Manchester & Kress believe Berry's material to be recent, nonfossil remains of Ensete ventricosum, which is grown in the region of Colombia where the specimens of Musa enseteformis were originally obtained.
