Our Letter Box from Her Majesty's Prisons

Edges Magazine is travelling to prisons throughout the U.K. We are pleased to publish some of the many letters we receive.

Letter from Tim from HMP Littlehey

I was fortunate to read two of your magazines, which I can relate to and found very interesting. I am a 38 year old unemployed homeless person who was a Heroin addict before my present prison sentence. I got my sentence (four years) for supplying two œ10 bags to undercover police. I was grateful for being locked up as it gave me the chance I needed to give up the gear.

Anyway, I am very interested in your magazine and am writing to ask if you could you send me copies when they come in. Thank you

Tim

Letter from Kev at HMP Little Hey Perry

Hi-ya Father Jim! How you doing? Hope you are well and keeping up the good work. And staying on top form. Well I'm fine and staying one step ahead and holding it down with a smile. I'm nearly halfway through my four years sentence. I've just completed my exams last year successfully. I've moved from Bedford to here on the 11th August, it's a category C prison. I'm keeping myself constructive with loads of gym for the moment and running around this jail 26 laps nearly every day. So what's going down in Blackburn?

I've got two girlfriends, one of them is serving a four year sentence at Holloway and the other one is an art student who does her own material etc. and both of them love me and staying strong.

Today is my birthday - 28 years old. I'm on bang-up no work? Do plenty of cell circuits at the moment.

Say hi to all the staff and everybody at Edges for me. I really hope everything is running smoothly for you.

Father, I am running out of words so take care and stay safe and stay strong and keep smiling and never give up.

Kev
