Oswall Madziwa – visited us recently. He has been working at Nightsafe - a shelter for homeless people in Blackburn. He prepares to leave for London where he will study nursing. Oswall states the following:
"I was born in 1971 in Zimbabwe in a family of five. I have a brother who stays in Hull. My father is a social worker and my mother is an Administrator in the University of Zimbabwe. My father looks after people who are terminally ill. Many of them are suffering from AIDS.I grew up in Zimbabwe mostly in the rural areas.I've had experience of war as I grew up at the time of our civil war .There is a great deal of poverty in my country but coming to the UK has opened my eyes to a different type of poverty".
