MY 21st BIRTHDAY
WAS SPENT INSIDE A CELL

I got out of prison roughly mid-December. I was in there for my twenty-first birthday and I got out shortly afterwards. I’m originally from Chorley and when I left prison I went back to Chorley. Whilst I was in jail I had no contacts or visits from anyone.

The reason I was in jail was because of drugs. So when I went back to Chorley I got back into the drugs scene and got back into trouble again.I began to realise that I was going to go the same way again and back into jail. So, basically I just stood back and had a look at where I was going.I decided that I needed a fresh start and to get away somewhere new.

I have come here to Blackburn, met a few people and made friends.I don’t know what to do at the moment, I’m thinking of moving on further down south. I want to try to find somewhere comfortable and build a new life, just settle down. When I came to Blackburn first I didn’t know anyone. I got in touch with Nightsafe and it was through there I met a few people who have become friends. With being homeless and not having any food they told me about Father Jim’s where I can come and get food. That’s helped as well because the staff are very friendly and make sure everything is O.K. I’ve also met other friends while I’ve been down here. I think it’s a good thing really, they don’t have anything like this in Chorley.
It definitely helps people .
