I SOLD DRUGS AND MADE LOTS OF MONEY

Paul has had a long history of drugs.
At present he is going through our rehab unit.

I’ve been selling drugs for around twenty years and using at the same time. I was doing the selling to fund my own habit. There have been several periods were I have spent a long time in jail. It was both through selling and thieving.

I’ve got to the stage now were I’ve had enough. I started looking around for help. I heard about THOMAS through Help the Homeless in Chorley. With their help I filled out the application forms and came over to see the staff here. I was accepted on the programme and here I am.

I don’t know if I could say I am enjoying it here, it’s quite hard having to deal with the different emotions that I’ve pushed aside for so long. I am gaining a lot, looking at all the different emotions that are surrounding me. In the past I’ve just ignored them and blanked them.

When I was selling I was selling a lot, up to about three hundred and fifty bags to various people all around Bolton – which would make three and a half thousand pounds. Half of that figure was profit and the other half was put back in to buy more drugs. All the profits were just used up for my own use. I lived quite comfortably but how comfortable was I when I was using as much as I was?
