Binge Drinking,
the Modern Face of Britain

Binge drinking has already been described as the new British disease. We consume 121% more alcohol than we did 50 years ago. Each year 14 million working days are lost due to alcohol abuse. Around 1.2 million incidents of crime a year are attributed to binge drinking. Seventy percent of all admissions to A&E are the result of boozing. A study released last year found that two-thirds of all ambulance calls on Friday and Saturday nights in London are alcohol related costing the services nearly £20 million.
