Former Prisoners
Re Building Lives

Jay is one of our former service users. He is now working on our drama workshop.

When I left T.H.O.M.A.S. 14 months ago, I was very fearful. I knew how easy it was to go back to drugs and I did not want to do that. The drama workshop equipped me with motivation. It got me out of my flat and gave me something to do each day. It also helped me develop new skills.

This project goes into schools and colleges. It uses drama to get the message across about addiction. All of us are ex-addicts who have been through T.H.O.M.A.S. We are now giving something back to the community as we help young people understand what drugs can do.

Most of the schools are receptive to our workshops. We are aware of the problems that exist in some of our schools. It is strange when you see young people rebelling; it reminds me of the time when I did such things. I’ve been to prison six times because of drugs and I don’t what other young people to go down the same road.
