  Why ME?

David is currently serving a sentence at HMP Highdown.Surrey
Why me, why me?’ the Alky man cried
As all that he cherished withered and died.
The love of his Woman, battered and spurned
The love that he took, but never returned.
His hopes and dreams all flushed away
But he sits and mourns with nothing to say.
No words, just memories and a tear in his eye.
As he sits alone, watching the world go by
The rattle of his pills, the clink of his can
Is the Sound of Angels to the Alky man.

‘Why me, why me?’ the Alky man cried
As all that he treasured withered and died.
The love that he took but never earned
The lessons of life that he never learned.
No thoughts of the cost, the price to pay
No thoughts of tomorrow, drink for today.
Lost in the gutter, looking up at the sky
Trapped in the past, as the present drifts by
‘Why me, why me?’ the Alky man sighed
Choking on self-pity the Alky man cried.
