One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after;
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life  (Psalm 27:4)

Female Genital Mutilation:
The God Who Hates

"FGM includes procedures that intentionally alter or cause injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons.  The procedure has no health benefits for girls or women.  Procedures can cause severe bleeding and problems urinating, and later cysts, infections, infertility as well as complications in childbirth and increased risk of newborn deaths.  More than 125 million girls and women alive today have been cut in the 29 countries in Africa and Middle East where FGM is concentrated.  FGM is mostly carried out on young girls sometime between infancy and age 15.  FGM is a violation of the human rights of girls and women.  It reflects deep-rooted inequality between the sexes, and constitutes an extreme form of discrimination against women. ... FGM violates a person's rights to health, security and physical integrity, the right to be free from torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, and the right to life when the procedure results in death"

"We must not pussyfoot around FGM and child marriage but confront them and prevent them"

Female Genital Mutilation

I know Satan's hatred for women knows no bounds.  From the Chinese custom of foot-binding to the Catholic preference for saving the baby at the expense of the mother if their lives become endangered during the process of childbirth [2], from the inferior position of Muslim women under Sharia law to the Indian practice of sati [3], from the diabolical rape and sexual abuse of little girls to virgin sacrifice, there have been numerous ways, from the seemingly mild to the grotesquely horrifying, Satan has used throughout history to display his hatred for women [4].

Now we learn of another: Female Genital Mutilation.

Until recently we in the West have known or heard little about Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) - what it involves and what is its evil purpose [5].  Now though, especially through the internet and the alternative media, we are seeing and hearing more [6].  FGM is mass mutilation of children: female children.  It is a disgusting perversion of the practice of male circumcision and it is the deliberate destruction of the woman's ability to enjoy the sexual act of procreation.

Male Circumcision

God instituted male circumcision for a godly and spiritual purpose [7].  It is to be carried out

  • on the 8th day of the infant's life when Vitamin K is at its height and prothrombin is at 110% to aid and speed blood clotting [8],
  • at an age such that the boy will have no memory of the event when he gets older [9],
  • quickly and cleanly with extremely sharp and sterilised instruments specifically designed for the task [10],
  • by a very highly skilled and capable and experienced surgeon or rabbi who cares for the health of the little boy on whom he is operating [11],
  • because it has various health benefits for the circumcised man - for example it helps to prevent penile cancer [12].

No sane person could ever conceive that circumcision could possibly be carried out on a girl; her anatomy just doesn't allow for such an abominable procedure - and so often done with blunt and unsterilised and primitive tools - yet Satan's hatred for women managed to find a way to pervert this God-given practice for boys into a sadistic attack on girls.  Yes, carried out by their mothers and aunts but enforced upon them by the very men, their fathers and husbands, who are commanded by God to care for and protect their daughters and wives [13].  Female Genital Mutilation is an evil perversion of something God designed for good.

Sexual Pleasure

FGM has been practiced by various cultures [14] and even one girl undergoing such an evil procedure is one girl too many, but it is in Islam that FGM is most widespread.  In Islam women have no intrinsic value; they exist only as abuse-able reproductive machines for men [15].  FGM is not done, as some might wonder it might be, for the perceived good of the woman; it is done solely for the selfish will of the man.  In Islam nothing is done for the good of the woman.  In Islam everything is done for the good of the man.

In Islam the god who hates [16] has left no vile stone unturned in the pursuance of his hatred for women.  Forced marriages of pure young girls to lecherous men old enough to be their grandfathers, 'honour' killings of daughters and sisters by their fathers and brothers, the stoning to death of raped women, and the doctrine of Razzia (sexual slavery) [17], are all wicked enough, but in its design FGM goes even further because it is a demonic perversion of something that God intended to be holy.

(And, perhaps that is also why it can be difficult for some men to grasp the horror of rape for a woman; even if she isn't physically beaten, or murdered, the very nature - the very essence - of rape is that it is a demonic perversion of something God designed and ordained to be a beautiful, pure, and holy expression of a man's love for his wife...)

Effects of FGM

Though these little girls are not actively murdered after their brutal cutting, some of them do die subsequently either from the shock or through bleeding to death, or through infection from the crude and filthy instruments used.  And those carrying out this barbarism on them know that death can be a possible result.

Girls who don't die suffer the consequences of FGM every day of their lives subsequently - every time they pass water, every time they have their period, every time their 'husbands' [18] have sexual relations with them, every time they give birth to their own little daughters who, in their turn, will also have their secret parts agonizingly hacked to bits and then sewn up for the express purpose of preventing them receiving the sexual pleasure God has granted for both men and women.

Female Genital Mutilation upsets me.  It really upsets me that these little girls, so precious in the sight of God - the true God, are being tortured and butchered for no other reason than the hellish revenge of Satan and the sick hypocrisy of the men who do his evil bidding.

Can we be so casual concerning it?

[1]  My subheading is taken from the title of the book by Wafa Sultan:  A God Who Hates

[2]  Which in practice often means that both mother and child die, and the husband is left without his beloved soulmate, and the other children in the family are left without their mother.

[3]  "Sati is the practice through which widows are voluntarily or forcibly burned alive on their husband's funeral pyre..."  Please see this article for more information on the practice of Sati:  Sati in India

[4]  Satan couldn't prevent the woman from bringing forth the Lord Jesus Christ, Who would crush him beneath His feet (Genesis 3:15b; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; John 19:30; Revelation 20:10a), but from the very beginning and throughout human history he has been doing everything in his power to punish her.

[5]  "The process involves the cutting away of the girl's clitoris, the outer and inner labia, as well as the scraping of the walls of her vagina with a sharp object - a fragment of glass, a razor blade, or a potato knife, and the binding together of her legs, so that the walls of the vagina can grow together. This happens in more than thirty countries, including Egypt, Somalia, and Sudan. ... This originally tribal custom has practically become a religious duty, and is defended as such. ... The so-called infibulation (literally 'stitching up') offers a guarantee over women and is implemented under the watchful eyes of mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and other female guardians" The Caged Virgin, p.23.

[13]  There are exceptions - my sister, who has worked with victims of FGM in her practice as a community nurse in London, recently assured me that many of the husbands and fathers in the Somali community are very open to discontinuing the practice amongst their women when the harm of FGM is fully explained to them.  Please see her article on FGM here.

[18]  I have put the word 'husband' in quotes here as there is nothing remotely 'husbandly' about the way many Muslim men treat their wives.  God's command to husbands to love their wives (and by extension their daughters), and to sacrifice themselves for them (please see Ephesians 5:25-29), has been turned on its head by the utterly vile hypocrisy of Muslim men who accuse women of being 'driven by their lust', when it is in fact they who are driven by their lust, who love only themselves, and who think nothing of sacrificing their wives and their children for the sake of their vile ideology.
