Lachlan presented the following wines which could accompany your Christams dinner.

The Aperitif -
Hidalgo La Gitana Manzanilla
Served with olives and toasted almonds.
It hasa clean fresh saltiness with good rounded fruit, and is even better with the olives.

A "Starter for Ten" -
Clos du Pressoir 2006 Menetou-Salon
Served with French soft goats cheese
A great alternative to Pouilly Fume - really good structure with ripe fruit flavours and balanced acidity. Excellent with the goats cheese.

First Mains -
Dolcetto d'Alba 2007 Roberto Voerzio
Served with Double Gloucester
Excellent fresh fruit, developed spiced berries and cherries on the palate. Really flavoursome with good concentration and structure.

The Main Event -
Ch Cissac 2004 St Estephe, Haut Medoc
Served with red Leicester
Full purple colour, fresh ripe dark fruit with tobacco and vanilla flavours. Good mouthfeel with clear tannins. Good finish and length. A classic claret.

Oh you sweet thing! -
Piesporter Treppchen Reisling Spatlese 2007
Served with berries and crème fraiche
Light fruit with hints of petrol/oil on the nose and palate. Light yet with good depth of flavour and sweetness. Balancing acidity

And for Afters -
Henriques & Henriques 10 yo Bual Madeira
Served with dates with mascarpone and walnuts and mincemeat pies Caramel, toffee and mocha flavours, Good depth of flavours with a medium body with well balanced sweetness and acidity without any cloying.
