presented the following wines from Puglia, Basilicata and Sicily.
Lamadoro Salento Bianco 2011
Puglia Light lemon-gold in colour, with hints of green.
Fresh crisp acidity and unoaked; ripe peaches, apricot and a touch of
tropical fruit. It is clean and ripe with the floral citrus of Sauvignon
Blanc with a succulent rounded mid to end palate of Verdeca.
50% Verdeca & 50% Sauvignon Blanc, 12.5%
Vigneti Del Vulture Bianco Pipoli 2011
Basilicata Pale lemon in colour, with hints of pear drops
and violets over citrus with some prosecco like nuttiness. Very perfumed
and balanced; clean with a light lime zest character running through
the richness. Lingering flavours on the finish.
60% Greco & 40% Fiano, 13%
A Mano Rosato 2011
Puglia Bright pink with hints of lilac in colour. Lively,
youthful flavours of ripe strawberries, fresh mint & floral lilacs.
Full-bodied with delicate red & dark fruit characters and neatly
balanced minerality. Zesty dry finish with lasting aromatics.
75% Primitivo & 25% Aleatico, 12%
Zabu, Il Passo 2011
Sambuca, Sicilia Deep & bright ruby colour with youthful
rim. Well perfumed, soft rounded, generous fruit on the palate. Ripe,
soft mid tannins and good acid structure. Youthful and concentrated
chunky blackberry and spice fruit character. Good length with a long,
warm finish.
Nerello Mascalese, 13%
Vesevo Taurasi DOCG 2006
Taurasi, Campania Deep, intensely coloured with a dark
core and still youthful on the rim. Big rich powerful and concentrated,
with plums, red fruit and savoury notes. Notes of liquorice and spices
come through on the mid-palate. Good structure, still youthful with
good dry tannins and a lovely smooth finish.
100% Aglianico £25
A Mano Vino Passito 2009
Puglia Pale but good ruby red colour. Sweet, clean and
fresh fruit with red rose petals and dried/black cherries; Muscat like.
Some spice with rounded tannins; sweet but not cloying. Good fruit acidity
with dried fruit and cinnamon on the finish.
100% Aleatico, 14%. Residual sugar 72g/l
