We tasted French wines and Australian wines with a French connection
White
Domaine J A Ferret Puilly-Fuissé Sous Vergisson 2009
The nose displays lovely lean minerality. The minerality follows through
to the palate which opens out to delicate flavours of almonds and white
peaches and has a long, elegant finish.
Domaine J A Ferret Puilly-Fuissé "Autour de Fuissé"
2010
The wine shows great balance between weight and freshness, with elegance
derived from seamless minerality. Layers of subtle fruit notes combine
stone fruits, acacia flowers and spiced hazelnut butter. The finish
is long, intense and spicy.
Domaine J A Ferret Puilly-Fuissé Tete de Cru Les Perrieres 2009
An intensely generous nose with creamy honeysuckle aromas. A vivid palate
showing a pleasing balance between depth of flavour and richness, and
a long finish revealing notes of gingerbread and flowers.
Red
M Chapoutier Crozes Hermitage Les Varonniers 2006 (Syrah)
Very ripe red fruits, blackcurrant and raspberry, then liquorice on
the nose. On the palate, ample and solid, vanilla and jam final.
Domaine Tournon "Shays Flat Vineyard" 2011 Victorian Pyrenees
Shiraz
A wine made by M Chapoutier
Heartland Directors Cut Shiraz 2010 Langhorne Creek
The nose has notes of dark cherries and blackcurrant with fragrant dark
spice. The palate is rounded, yet focused and intense. European in style,
with savoury characters and a wonderful mouth feel.
Louis Jadot Morgon Château des Lumières 2002
Nice and deep cherry color with aromas of nuts and red fruits, very
expressive. Round tannins enable this wine to keep quite a number of
years.
