Cara Woods
from
Woodwinters Wines
presented the following wines
Massaya Massaya Rose 2010
Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
Almost Provencal in style. Beautiful salmon colour, with aromas and
flavours of fresh ripe lemon, strawberry, and redcurrant. A freshening
spice to the finish.
Emiliana Adobe Gewurztraminer 2010
Cachapoal Valley, Chile
The nose shows jasmine flowers and roses blended with some soft herbaceous
notes and tropical fruit. On the palate there are some floral and fruit
notes, leaving a sweet sensation with a delicate acidity. It is a very
tasty wine with long persistence.
Domaine d'Uby Domus Blanc 2010
Gascony, France
The combination of a cool climate and careful winemaking are evident
from the aromatic intensity on the nose, with citrus, freshly cut grass
and passionfruit notes. The palate is crisp light and fresh and benefits
from a naturally low alcohol content of 11.5%.
Penin Bordeaux Natur 2010
Bordeaux, France
Our first virtually sulphur free wine! Sulphur has been used for centuries
within wine as an anti oxidant and microbial inhibitor. It's used almost
as a preservative. But now Patrick at Chateau Penin has managed to make
and bottle a Bordeaux Merlot without the addition of sulphur. Patrick
sees his 'Natur' as 'naked' wine, which is better able to reveal the
true nature of its soil, vines and flavours.
Juan Gil Monastrell Monastrell 2010
Jumilla, Spain
Richness, value and complexity abound in this wine. A dark, chunky wine.
Full of blackberry and plum fruit with hints of vanilla spice and coffee.
The palate is warm and rich with layers of lush spicy plum and cherry
fruit, with an overlying attractive perfume. Rich, sweet tannins and
a touch of chocolate on the finish.
La Spinetta Moscato d'Asti 'Bricco Quaglia' 2010
Asti, Italy
This is like a jet of super-cool, fizzy grape juice and it must be one
of the most refreshing sweet wines on the
planet. Mathew Jukes
Waterkloof Circle of Life Red 2008
Stellenbosch, South Africa
Working with nature allows us to experience its natural cycle every
year. Vines awaken from their rest in spring, growing and producing
fruit until the next winter when they go to sleep again. This cycle
is also evident through the Biodynamic practices that we follow on Waterkloof.
Circle of Life is inspired by this cycle that exists not only on Waterkloof,
but life in general. Circle of Life is not a wine driven by varietal
or a specific vineyard, but it is a wine that reflects the totality,
philosophy and specificity of Waterkloof. Deep, isn't it. Youthful bright
ruby, light oak, leather, spice - vegetal fruit.
Clean dry tannin, dry leather with light front palate . Good integrated
flavours
Bodegas Pinna Fidelis Roble,
Spain
Pinna Fidelis Roble -Aromas of fresh red fruits - strawberry, raspberry
and redcurrants - balanced with notes of slightly toasty oak. On the
palate there are round tannins, beautifully balanced with the rich fruit
character, and a persistent finish.
Once malolactic fermentation is completed, the free run wine goes into
oak casks without further processing. (It is this that helps keep the
tannins soft). It is aged for 6 months in American oak barrels.
