"It is finished" means "paid in full"

When Jesus died, He paid enough to cover every sin you could commit from the womb to the tomb. That's why, when Jesus cried, "It is finished" (John 19:30), heaven wrote, "Paid in full" across your debt. Salvation is not DO, DO, DO! But rather it is DONE, DONE, DONE!

All of his life, John Wesley had preached to others, written books, and traveled around the world to plant churches. Yet he had no real assurance that he was truly saved or right before God. One night at Aldersgate Chapel in London he heard a man preach a sermon, "Saved Through Trusting in Christ". Suddenly the words came to life in his heart. The light came on. Wesley wrote in his diary, "That night, I realized for the first time that all my life I had "believed in Jesus Christ". I believed in Him in English, and in Greek, and in Latin - but I trusted in John Wesley. So that night I transferred my trust from myself over to Jesus Christ, and ever since, total peace and wonderful assurance have flooded every fiber of my being."
