Introduction

Allendale Health Centre is situated in the centre of the beautiful Northumbrian town of Allendale.The practice area covers the whole of the Allen Valleys.
There are two doctors at the practice; Dr. Mary Jo I'Anson and Dr. Gerry Morrow.

 

 


We are dedicated ,with our staff, to providing a high standard of medical care based on the traditional role of the family doctor.

Nursing Staff.

We are fortunate to have highly skilled and experienced nurses on our team.

Sister Liz Hughan is our practice nurse and Sister Chris Lloyd is our district nurse.We also have an excellent community midwife in Helen Shield. Our health visitor is Elissa Patterson.

Current Projects

Young Persons Clinic
Those of you who read the article in the Courant 23rd. April will have seen understood the need for this exciting new service.
This is an advice service for young people. A separate and confidential telephone line is available for this service for anyone to use. You don't even have to be registered at our practice to ring 01434683911.

District Nurse in Albania

Our district nurse Chris Lloyd is at present in Albania helping to look after refugees from Kosovo. Chris is involved with Oxfam and is working with specialists in sanitation near the Albanian capital of Tirana.

Our best wishes go with her.

Biographical Information

Dr. Mary Jo I'Anson qualified from the University of Leicester in 1980. She then had several post-graduate positions, notably in Hexham General Hospital before coming to Allendale in 1992. Her subjects of special interest include; dermatology and women's health. She currently is a clinical asistant in Dermatology to Dr. Peter Farr at Hexham General Hospital.

 

Dr. Gerry Morrow qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1987. He then followed a career in Orthopaedics and Trauma before "seeing the light" and changing to General Practice. He has been a GP since 1992, initially in Worcester before joining the Allendale Health Centre in 1997. His interests include orthopaedics and mental health problems.

Monday: open surgery- Dr. I'Anson 8.30 - 10.30am; appointments- Dr. Morrow 9.00-10.30am

Monday : evening Dr. I'Anson 4.00-6.00pm

Tuesday:open surgery- Dr. Morrow 8.30-10.00am Tuesday afternoons baby clinic 2.00-3.30pm

Tuesday : evening Dr. Morrow 4-6pm

Wednesday : open surgery- Dr. I'Anson 8.30-10.00am ; appointments -Dr. Morrow 9-10.30am
