Grasmere Two minutes walk from Glenthorne, Grasmere has a general store, newsagents, chemist and post office many quality gift and book shops, a garden centre, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants of varying price brackets. The Tourist Information Centre is in the village and there are a range of brochures and maps available in the guesthouse. More shops, a cinema and banks and petrol station are available in Ambleside; a twenty minute drive. There are regular buses from the village to Ambleside, Kendal and Keswick. Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount; both now open to the public interested in Wordsworth and his life in the lakes are only a short distance from Glenthorne. Walks both relaxing and more arduous are numerous and start from right outside our front door. Maps may be loaned from the guesthouse.
