colonialism
Colonialism in its most traditional sense involves the
gaining of control over particular geographical areas and is usually
associated with the with the exploitation of various areas in the world by
European powers from about 1500 on.
Neo-colonialism is usually taken as referring to the
economic situation of former colonies post-independence.
Post-colonialism. The 'post' here can be variously taken
as a historical period after colonialism; as being concerned with those
writers
who
opposed, and hence looked beyond, colonialism; and as somehow linked with
the discourse of post-modernism or post-modernity.
