"Barbarian Metal Kings!!!"
There are 4 albums so far:
The Next Bal Sagoth album is currently being recorded and is set for a spring 2001 release. The band say that the new material will be much darker than previous works.
Named after a legendary kingdom in an HP Lovecraft novel, Bal Sagoth are in my opinion, one of Britains greatest metal bands, hailing from Sheffield, currently around. All 3 albums are I believe masterpieces in there own right and Bal Sagoth with their unique dark and symphonic extreme metal creating a totally unique experience.
The album, Starfire Burning Upon The Ice Veiled Throne of Ultima Thule, has not let my hi fi in a long while and my personal favourite off this album is And Lo, When The Imperium Marches Against Gul-Kothoth, Then Dark Sorceries Shall Enshroud The Citadel Of The Obsidian Crown, or Track 8 as I like to call it.
To gain an in depth view of Bal Sagoth I suggest you read the reviews of these albums and visit the three sites that I have linked to at the bottom of this chamber as well as the official webring.
The following is from one of the Cacophonous' ( the record label were band signed to) catalogues:
|"Arising from mist shrouded
realms of Legend...the mighty Bal Sagoth!"
"Pagan warriors swathed in elder sorcery, summoning power from the eternal gleam of the horned moon, swords dripping ever crimson with the spilled blood of a thousand epic battles, Bal Sagoth create the ultimate in dark and symphonic metal. Epic orchestral phantasies masterfully magical music steeped in brooding atmosphere and thunderous power... Enthralling sagas entwined in the timless mantle of high fantasy. Tales of ancient realms, elder gods and epic battles."
The above is a picture of the band. Click upon it to enter a gallery dedicated to Bal Sagoth.
