IT FELT LIKE THE FLU was the headline of James Scott article.
Ross is struck down after his Africa safari. actor
Ross Kemp - laid low in hospital
with suspected malaria - had been feeling unwell for days but
thought he was just coming down with flu. He told friends
he was ill last week while in Glasgow for his successful campaign
to be elected Rector of the city's university. He soldiered
on, denying it was a holiday bug and insisiting. "I have
a cold."
But medical test last night could confirm he has malaria, which
kills more than a million people each year, mainly in Africa. Ross
returned last month from a safari in Tanzania.
On Monday he took a turn for the worse and was forced to leace
early from a ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London.
Ross, would have been advised to take anti - malaria tablets while on holiday and before and after the trip. But these are not completely effective in preventing the parasitic blookd disease, which can develop a resistance to the drugs.
