'Gangster Ronnie Knight has apologised to his ex-wife Barbara Windsor ...16 years after they split up.'  The report goes on 'And Knight has also promised to pay her the £100,he owes for the money from the sales of their villa in Spain's Costa de Sol.

'"I'm sorry and all that. I'll try and make it up to her one day if I can.  I don't know how.  I'm writing a book now.  So I'm hoping I might hit the jackpot there."'

'Grey-haired Knight, now living in Barnet. North London, after serving five years of a seven-year sentence for his part in the £6million Security Express robbery was married to Barbara for 22 years.

"I loved it in Spain but Barbara didn't like it too much. She wanted to get back to work, but I wanted to stay out there longer and longer."'

Later in the article, it is reported that Barbara said she had no hard feelings for Knight.  She said of his promise to pay her the money and his apology.  "That's nice to hear.  Sorry is an important word and it takes a lot of courage to say.  Ronnie has been out a long, long time and he hasn't said it yet, but I'd accept his apology."
