General Guidelines for Coaches

Selection  Be accurate in your assessment of players 
  Be honest in your assessment of players  

Time  Maximise the time available 

Facilities  Use the space available efficiently 

Learning process 
The coaching programme is based on players mastering the topic and not just going through the motions 
   
  Individual technical excellence, sustained by constant individual practice  
  Technical, tactical and strategic understanding consistent with the age group 
  High quality motivation with a good attitude to learning and practice 
  Keep practices dynamic and not static  

Small sided Games  3 v 3 up to 6 v 6 games are the basis of all player development 
   
  More contact on the ball gives increased opportunity to improve individual technique 
  Increased concentration  
  Helps to develop fitness and awareness  
  Defensive and attacking skills required. The 3 moments in the game 
   
  Devote at least 20 minutes to an SSG during an hour session 
  Keep the technical input precise and to a minimum  
  Let the players play
