Jane has been
involved with women's football since 1973 when at the age of 12 she began
playing in a works team. Now she is one of only a few women in the UK to have
passed the F.A.'s Full Coaching License and was appointed as Centre Director in
January 1999.
She began coaching girls and women in 1991 when she formed what is now
Chesterfield F.C. Ladies. Initially her involvement was with the Club's Juniors
whilst she continued to play for the Ladies side, however as age and the
coaching bug took over she gradually moved into management. In 1993/94 she
managed the Reserve side then took over the First team from 1994 - 1997. She
left the Club in 1997 in order to broaden her coaching experience and since
then has worked at all levels of the game.
New experiences involved a stint at Nottingham based Division 1 North side,
Arnold Town as well as work in the wider sprectrum of grassroots development in
the same County. In November 1997 the then England Ladies manager, Ted Copeland
approached her to become involved as a scout for the National team and this
lead to her inclusion on the FA's coach mentoring scheme. When Hope Powell took
the National Team Manager's job a year later Jane was given the chance to use
her coaching skills with both the Under 18 and Under 16 national squads. Since
then she has prepared squads for international matches and mini tournaments
with the most memorable trip being an U16 match against Scotland in July 1999
at Wembley. The job with the "Spireites" brought Jane home and the
awesome task of working for the Club that she supports.
Jane works mainly with the Under 16 squad, although is also responsible for
overall coaching and playing standards.
Stuart
joined the Centre at the start of the 1999/2000 season as the Under 12's coach.
He is currently working towards the Football Associations "B"
Coaching License and is based in Sutton in Ashfield.
Stuart works as a freelance football coach in both North Nottinghamshire and
Derbyshire. He has extensive experience of the female game and much of his work
brings him into contact with grassroots development schemes where many players
now at the Centre were first spotted.
He is also involved with Interski Girls FC who compete in the Nottinghamshire
Junior Girls League.
Hannah joined the Centre at the start of the 2000/2001 season in
order to gain coaching experience. A very confident character who wants to make
her career working with children. She passed the FA's Junior Team Manager's
Award during 1999 and then during the Summer she coached the Bolsover District
U13 girls team that played in the Derbyshire Youth Games. Hannah plays her
football with Chesterfield FC Ladies, moving up from the Under 16's into the
Reserve team at the start of 2000/2001
Initially she is assisting with the Development group and the Under 12 squad,
under the guidance of Stuart Rowley, and is now working towards her Coaching
Certificate.
Christine
has always been interested in football and played in her first team at the age
of 11. It wasn't until she went to Hull University that she joined another
organised team, playing for Hull University WFC. After leaving University
Christine joined her home town team Blackpool FC Ladies in 1992-93, playing in
the North West League. After arriving at Sheffield University in 1993, she
played and captained the University first team.
An anterior cruciate ligament rupture in March 1992 cruelly robbed Christine of
4 years of her playing career. This allowed her to pursue her interest in the
coaching and management side of the game and she took over the running of the
University first team which reached the BUSA quarter-finals for the first time
in the club's history. After recovering from her ACL reconstruction in 1995
Christine and a number of her University team-mates joined Chesterfield FC
Ladies and she captained the reserves in her first season. At the beginning of
the 1999-2000 season she took on the caretaker player-manager role for the
first two months of the season. Christine is currently Club Captain and a
well-established member of the first team.
Christine joined the Centre of Excellence in 1998 at the time of the its
creation to pursue her coaching career and after assisting with the U16 side
during 1999/2000 she passed her FA Coaching Certificate. This season has seen
her become responsible for the Under 14 squad.
Despite a deep interest in football since an early age, restrictions
for girls to play football meant that after the age of 11 Clare was unable to
play competitive team football until reaching university. Here she spent 3
years as club captain and was also involved in the coaching and managing of the
team. Her training as a primary teacher also led her to be involved in various
coaching projects in schools in the north east of England.
After leaving university, Clare spent a year working in France which allowed
her to experience continental styles of play and coaching methods as a member
of the first team at Olympique de Grenoble. During this time she also had the
opportunity to further her coaching experience in schools in the Isere region
of France. On returning to Sheffield in 1996 after a brief spell at Sheffield
Wednesday Clare joined Chesterfield FC Ladies where she is currently a member
of the first team squad. Her initial interest in the coaching side of the game
was allowed to expand when Clare joined the Centre of Excellence as a mentored
coach in September 1999 and she is currently putting out cones and collecting
bibs for the U14 squad. Clare is also assistant first team coach at Sheffield
University WFC.
Paddy joined the
Centre at the start of 1999/2000 as the specialist goalkeeper coach. He has an
FA coaching Certificate which he gained after a stint working with the
Chesterfield FC Football in the Community Scheme. Since then he has extensive
experience of working with girls teams and is curently a manager of
Chesterfield FC Ladies Under 14 "B"side.
In 2000/2001 he began to diversify his work at the Centre becoming involved
with the general coaching of the Under 14 squad
