Men (and women) in Blue

With each section of the Club coming ever closer together our technical staff have to begin to plan for the future. This season the Club has adopted a 5 year plan for excellence and we are therefore comitted to the improvement of playing and coaching standards.

Player development is therefore an important issue. As adults, we are often guilty of looking for short term acheivement without considering the whole picture, or indeed the future.

First and foremost we all have to understand that a good result is not necessarily indicative of a good performance. Obviously winning is a nice feeling, whatever your age, and being one of the top Clubs in the

Region is a position that we have to maintain. However our staff are being made increasingly aware that devlopment occurs over a number of years.
ie.
In any typical age group the players will be at differing stages of maturity. A smaller player might be phsyically 2 years behind their peers whilst an early developer might be 2 years in front of their peers. That's like playing a 10 year old against a 14 year old and no responsible manager should ever be allowed contemplate that.

In addition to physical differences all children are at different stages of  mental development and they can only understand concepts at their own pace.
