The Story of Your Locality

This ‘Story of a village’ is - in Trade Union terms! - a ‘composite’. It is for you now to discover the story of your own locality.

Chat to as many people as possible. Take a tape-recorder into old people’s homes, into pubs and clubs. Find in particular those who have lived in the place for a long time (from all the various mini-localities that you have identified) - and get them to tell you about the changes they have seen over the years.

The stories that you hear could be made into a fascinating video sequence. It would obviously be a valuable piece of historical archive material but it could also be a fine introduction for newcomers to help them feel that they belong.
