The part 2 Driving test is a test of Driving ability, and is of an advanced, defensive mode, being of a higher standard than the I.A.M. and the R.O.S.P.A. tests. The trainee is expected to drive in a positive manner as a professional, and at a highly experienced level.
For entry into the training course the candidate should have held a full British Driving Licence for four years of the last six. The trainee must not have been banned from driving or have a major endorsement in that time.
The training for this test is all done on a one to one basis between the O.R.D.I.T.E. registered tutor and the client, with no other person in the vehicle. In order to teach a person to drive properly the trainee must be able to perform him / herself in an exemplarily manner, and set an example to all their clients that they teach.
Training for this part of the course can be done on an intensive basis, weekly, daily, or hourly to meet the candidates requirements. The trainee will be taken on Advanced driving routes, Motorway routes, as well as driving in rural districts with town and busy city routes included. Clients on the course will be also trained in performing all the D.S.A. testing manoeuvres to a high standard.
The criteria for passing this examination is not to incur no more than six minor faults, and obviously not a serious or dangerous fault. This test lasts for approximately one hour, and is conducted by a senior A.D.I. Examiner which will involve all the syllabus that the trainee has been previously trained for.
