After dining on the monster stag your men feel better: but they start to sob with fear when you suggest exploring the wisp of smoke. They know what happened last time someone saw a wisp of smoke! But still, you are the boss. You divide them into two parties. Yours stays by the ship, the other - led by Eurylochus - moves off inland. Later he returns ... alone.

They have been captured by a dryad and turned into trees.
They have tasted drugged wine, and refuse to come back.
