Leodes was a priest who officiated at the Suitors' sacrifices, and hated their
brutish behaviour. He was chosen more or less at random to be the first
Suitor to try the bow. When he failed, he prophesied that the bow would
"break the heart of many a champion". But someone else had already had a
go before Leodes…
