Here is a collection of .gif files which show outlines of shapes. These outlines of shapes are provided in the hope of being a useful source of shapes for use with the Microsoft Paint program on a PC.

Before starting to use one of these outline files it is best to download it from the web to local storage, either on a hard disc or a floppy disc. However, if that is a problem, then, as long as Print Screen is available, the picture can be copied to the clipboard directly from the web display.

The Print Screen facility needs to be available. Display the file in a web browser, off-line. Press the Print Screen button. Start the Paint program. Use Edit Paste in order to get the screen print into the Paint program. Use the Select tool to select one of the outlines from the picture. It can then be copied from the picture and used to start a new picture or to paste into an existing picture.

You can use the outline of the shape as the basis for producing your own picture.

It is possible to use two or more shapes superimposed in order to create more complex displays. If one uses 8x magnification, then the magenta crosswires can be used to align two shapes together. When pasting one shape on top of another shape, press the lower button of the two buttons which appears below the tool box. This allows the crosswires of the original picture to show through the new shape, so that the two pairs of crosswires can be aligned.

Artistic effects can be produced by inverting or rotating the second image before fixing it into place.

The following outlines are available for free download.

Please note that the files are not all the same size.
