Primary Objective: To operate an OS/390 system using MVS, JES2, and SDSF commands

Controlling the MVS console
Master and Alternate Consoles, CONSOLxx definition, setting an inline message area, message indicators, PF keys, PFKTABxx definition, the K (CONTROL) command; sending messages; monitoring system activity, TRACK, MONITOR; WTO buffers.

Controlling the MVS system resources
Displaying device status, DEVSERV PATHS; displaying units, unit status; varying devices online and offline; controlling initiators; displaying machine characteristics; dump and SMF datasets; domains; changing local time.

MVS Operating Techniques
Starting MVS, start-up options - link pack area, CLPA, MLPA, page datasets, CVIO; catalogs and alternate start-up system; started tasks; shutting down MVS, stopping JES, problem handling; performance groups; operator commands.

SDSF for operators
Accessing SDSF; entering JES and MVS commands; DA, I, H, O, ST options, PR, INIT options, using PREFIX; browsing the LOG, finding strings; automatic update.

Controlling jobs
Using JES commands to control job queues, changing job attributes, holding, releasing, cancelling, purging, requeuing jobs.

Controlling output
Listing output characteristics; setting output classes; releasing and cancelling held output; purging non-held output; controlling the printer.

JES2 techniques
The offload system; starting and stopping JES; multiple commands; automatic commands.  Abend codes and messages.
