The program consists of three parts: WRITING NUMBERS in which children can draw around numbers from 0 to 10 and count Smudge's favourite toys. DOT TO DOT, where you help Smudge complete the outline of each picture by joining the dots, which can then be coloured in. With COUNT AND COLOUR children paint scenes by answering sums. The program contains four activities: In WRITING LETTERS children can draw around large letters from a to z; In COMPLETE THE PICTURE, shapes, first letters and words must be matched with silhouettes, and there is even a jigsaw to make! SMUDGE -Colour, Shape and Space Smudge - Colour, Shape and Space will introduce and develop children's awareness of shape and space - an important first step in mathematics. The program comes in four parts: SMUDGE'S PAINTBOX is an easy to use paint program in which children can easily create masterpieces using different shapes and colours. In KNOW AND PLACE children must build a picture by selecting "missing shapes", which can then be coloured in. With SMUDGE'S SORTER, Smudge needs help in the shape warehouse to sort shapes by colour or number of sides. SMUDGE -THE SCIENTIST Smudge the Scientist is a package that presents the general principles of science to 4 - 8 year olds. It enables children to discover electricity, magnetism, living processes, decay, the weather, and floating and sinking, in everyday situations. Each subject has a tutorial section, a number of activities to take part in and a notepad to record observations. SMUDGE - PUNCTUATES  Smudge Punctuates will introduce and reinforce basic punctuation skills in children aged 5 years upwards. The program consists of three parts, each covering five different punctuation marks, with a reference section and a number of activities. SMUDGE - Discovers the World  Smudge Discovers the World will help children with their basic geography skills. Part one will help children with their knowledge of Britain, Europe and the World, where they must place labels onto maps containing cities, rivers, mountains etc. or choose colours for different countries. Compass, co-ordinates and mapping skills are introduced and re-enforced in part two. Children may also design their own maps and use an areal map. Part three covers rivers and the effect of weather. Part four helps children get to know different parts of the world - The Americas, Africa, Asia and Australasia. Throughout the program, Smudge encourages research by children by prompting them to write a "postcard to home".
