Korado

by Jim Lee

The Korado-Lux is a new moped, made in Czechoslovakia by PS Manet, part of the Jawa/CZ group.  It is powered by a much-improved version of the Puch Maxi engine, made under licence.  The quality is superb with telescopic forks, oil-damped twin-shock rear suspension, 16" three-spoke alloy wheels and fuel carried in the large diameter tubular frame.  The specification includes indicators, tyre pump, tools, rear basket and 12 month warranty.  I recently carried out a 100 mile test run on a demonstration model and the results were excellent.  It cruised easily at 30mph returning 125mpg and coped easily with 1 in 6 gradients including Broadway Hill on the A44.  The ride comfort is very good with only a slightly numb bum after 114 miles.  The moped steers positively with no flexing or wallowing.  The brakes are internal expanding and perform perfectly in keeping with the (2.2bhp) power to weight ratio.  As an old Puch dealer, I can draw plenty of comparisons and this product is a remarkable improvement on the old Maxi - such is progress, even in the world of the basic moped.
