indexAre you finding it difficult to get the 1289 pilot light batteries that fit autocycle VEC headlamps and Lucas & Miller dynamo lighting sets? Look out for a no-name torch on market stalls or cheap tat shops. It has "Torch No 855" on the casing and the box says "3 AA batteries or 1 3R12 battery" on the side. Inside the torch is a converter that will let you use three AA batteries instead of the 1289 in your autocycle lamp. Not only does it make it easier to get batteries for your lamp, but it also gives you the option of using rechargeable batteries. You can throw the rest of the torch away - although the bulb might come in handy for something.
