Graham sent me the above illustration from the 23rd January 1952 edition of La France, a British paper published for school pupils learning French. It was still published in the following decade when I was wrestling with Whitmarsh's First French Course. So, here goes... "Without stopping, a competitor asks the brilliantly uniformed Mayor of Montmartre for a light for his cigi". Can anyone identify the moped/vélomoteur with its sidecar?
