Derek Ashworth

It is with great sadness that I pass on the news that Derek Ashworth, a good friend of mine and indeed of many others in the world of small engined bikes has passed away.  Derek was an enthusiast of Autocycles and Cyclemotors and he was the head of the Granadaland section of the NACC.  He took part in many events across the country, notably the 2008 Lands End to John O’Groats, and was always seen participating on the Coast to Coast.  This year (2017), he took part in the East to West and the abiding memory I have of him is spending a happy sunny afternoon driving along with Derek in my van after he decided that riding was a little too much for him; as we made our way to Whitehaven, we talked about anything and everything and had a good laugh along the way.

Thank you Derek for your support you have given me and Sharon; it’s been a privilege to have known you.
