The Crying Gulls.

This is a picture about sound.  About the soft mewing cries of wheeling gulls in their random flight.  The landscape was merely invented to support an idea.  Surely this is what painting is about.  An idea is born in one's mind and the brush and the colour are simply put to work to support that idea and flesh it out.  Can you hear the gulls?  Can you close your eyes and STILL hear the gulls?  If so, then my picture worked for you!

Picture - Watercolour - 20" x 16"   190 gm paper (the actual picture is larger than shown and contains more birds, but I couldn't get it all under the scanner at one go).
